Optoelectronic Packaging Engineer

Position Description:

We are currently looking for a Optoelectronic Packaging Engineer to join our development team. The Opto-Electromechanical Packaging Engineer is responsible for participating in the design, development, and integration of ultra-compact opto-electromechanical components. This position will be based in our Wilmington, MA, headquarters.

Key Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Participation in the design, development, and integration of ultra-compact opto-electro-mechanical components into a hand-held system with embedded electronics and software.
  • Support design verification
  • Optical bench testing and tolerance studies
  • Troubleshooting prototypes
  • Working closely with the system integration group

Skill Requirements:

  • Working knowledge of mechanical CAD tools, such as Solid Work; optical design CAD packages such as ZEMAX (OSLO) and FEM design tools such as ANSYS (COSMOS)
  • Experience with optical mounting and micro-optical alignment, micro-joining techniques, opto-electronic ceramic/metal packages, fiber optics, thermal management, hermetic sealing, semiconductor die bonding, and precision mechanics
  • Experience with product life cycle
  • Experience with reliability testing requirement, both at device and system level

Experience Requirements:

  • Advanced degree in Engineering and/or Physics (Master’s; Ph.D. preferred) with emphasis in opto-mechanical engineering
  • 5+ years of related experience preferred
