Manufacturing Test Engineer

Position Description:

We are currently looking for a Manufacturing Test Engineer to join our manufacturing team. The Manufacturing Test Engineer will be responsible for determining test specifications for ultra-compact optoelectronic subassemblies and building test stations with the goal of improving quality and yield. The ideal candidate is a self-driven and hands-on individual who has a track record of using his technical skills to find smart automated testing solutions and interacting with a creative team to track down solutions to problems. This position will be based in our Wilmington, MA, headquarters.

Key Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Identify “test gates” in the build process of subassemblies that will ensure quality and maximize yield.
  • Work with Engineering and study Engineering documentation to develop test specifications.
  • Design and build new test stations implementing the test specifications and warehousing test data.
  • Troubleshoot test failures, trace root causes and engage Engineering to address the root causes.
  • Sustain existing test processes to maintain or improve quality and yield.

Skill Requirements:

  • Working knowledge of software languages: Labview, Visual Studio .Net, Matlab, SQL
  • Working knowledge of Automation interfaces such as RS232 and GPIB.
  • Basic understanding of statistics.
  • Working knowledge of electronics. Ability to read and analyze electronic schematics.
  • Excellent verbal skills. Ability to present work clearly in Engineering Change Orders and presentations.

Experience Requirements:

  • Advanced degree in Engineering and/or Physics (Master’s; Ph.D. preferred) with emphasis in optics and/or electronics.
  • 5+ years of experience in small fast-paced engineering environment.
  • Proven track record of testing solutions and team work.
