WILMINGTON, Mass. and PRAGUE, Czech Republic – Sept. 16, 2008 – Ahura Scientific, Inc., a leader in handheld systems for chemical identification, announced today that it will be presenting at the third annual Authentication Connections Forum (ACF), held in Prague, Czech Republic, September 16 through 18. At this year’s conference Julien Bradley, who leads Ahura Scientific’s business development and product management efforts for the company’s counterfeit pharmaceuticals and material authentication portfolio, will give a presentation titled “Field-Based Authentication Using Handheld Raman Spectroscopy.” Bradley’s discussion will center around the use of Raman spectrometers to verify suspect pharmaceuticals, while sharing preliminary data on the implementation and efficacy of these instruments in real-world applications.

ACF is the only event where the role of authentication in anti-counterfeiting strategies is central, and the only event that focuses on the full breadth of technologies from a technical and application perspective. It focuses exclusively on making the connection between sensory and digital authentication, between authentication suppliers, and between the vendor community and end users. The organization is dedicated to moving beyond a discussion of the problems and issues, to demonstrating technologies that work, and – critically – the supporting environment in terms of regulation, education and standards that is enabling successful authentication strategies to take root.

“With an increase in materials testing requirements worldwide, regulatory and enforcement agencies continue to look for more reliable, portable, and cost-effective solutions to meet these demands,” said Bradley. “We think the ACF has addressed a great need in the industry by holding a conference to focus on not only the problem, but what solutions are being made available. We’re happy to be invited to be part of the discussion.”
