Thermo Fisher Scientific Announces Software Update for Globally-Deployed Handheld Raman Chemical Identification Instruments
New Software for Thermo Scientific FirstDefender RM and FirstDefender RMX Provides User Interface Enhancements for Explosives Applications
WILMINGTON, Mass. — January 25, 2012 — Thermo Fisher Scientific Inc., the world leader in serving science, today announced the latest software update for the Thermo Scientific FirstDefender RM and FirstDefender RMX handheld Raman instruments for field-based chemical identification. Deployed globally by hazmat teams, law enforcement, bomb squads and military personnel, FirstDefender instruments enable first responders to quickly identify unknown chemicals and explosives, even through sealed containers. FirstDefender RM/RMX version 3.4.1 includes several enhancements to the user interface for explosives applications and additions to the substance library.
The FirstDefender product line and other Thermo Scientific chemical identification tools are in active use by military, federal and civilian first responders around the world. The FirstDefender RM/RMX v3.4.1 update is currently available in English, as well as Arabic, Chinese, French, German and Japanese.
