Federal Grant Funding

CEDAP

Designed to complement programs like the State Homeland Security Grant Program (SHSGP) and the Urban Areas Security Initiative (UASI), the Commercial Equipment Direct Assistance Program (CEDAP) helps state and local communities acquire equipment to prevent, deter, and respond to terrorist attacks.

Community Oriented Policing Service (COPS) Technology Grants

In FY 2007, approximately $160M was available to 300 large communities and states to acquire technologies that improve community policing. The 2007 application period is now closed.

Edward Byrne Memorial Discretionary Program

In FY 2007, approximately $90M was available to fight crime via the Edward Byrne Memorial Discretionary Program. The 2007 application period is now closed.

Homeland Security Grant Program (HSGP)

The 2007 Homeland Security Grant Program (HSGP) will award more than $1.6 billion to enhance the ability of states, territories, and urban areas to prepare for, prevent, and respond to terrorist attacks and other major disasters. HSGP funds can be used for preparedness planning, equipment acquisition, training, exercises, management, and administration in order to obtain resources that are critical to building and sustaining capabilities that are aligned with the Interim National Preparedness Goal and respective State and Urban Area Homeland Security Strategies.

New York State HIRE Contract

The National Association of State Purchasing Officers (NASPO) and New York State (NYS) have issued contracts for centralized procurement to improve the domestic preparedness within New York State and 14 other states, including the third contract for Hazardous Incident Response Equipment (HIRE). Participating States include: New York, Alaska, Arizona, Arkansas, Florida, Louisiana, Minnesota, Mississippi, Nevada, North Dakota, Rhode Island, South Carolina, South Dakota, Utah and Washington.
